Q. Is it okay to wear anything other than a solid blue or white shirt to a job interview?
A. For a job interview you want to keep things simple. A white or light blue shirt is the safest and most traditional option. As for you tie, you want to go solid or a bold stripe.
Q. I want to pull off a cordovan leather wingtip ankle boot with a navy pin stripe suit. Are these boots ok to wear with this suit?
A. I think those shoes are too bulky to wear with a suit. You should try something more sleek. This is a better option if you prefer that style shoe.
Q. I saw the article about tie clips. How much should I spend for a tie clip and what’s the best color to go with? Do I need a different one for various suits / ties?
A. The ideal price to spend on a tie clip is roughly $20-$30 (Search hard on ebay and you can probably make out a little cheaper). You don’t need one for various suits/ties but may want to buy one to match your accessories. If you have a watch with a gold band, belt or shoes with a gold buckle, definitely get a gold tie-clip. The same goes for silver.
Q. I recently got a new blazer and am wondering what would be the best type of pants to wear with it?
Q. Where is a good place to find a nice pair of jeans? What kind of jeans do you buy/wear? I generally like to spend between $35 – $50 on a pair of jeans. If I really like them, I’d be willing to go higher.
A. Today’s fashion is all about denim. Denim shirts, jackets, and especially jeans. I myself am a “jeans guy” and have owned all sorts of fits, brands, and styles. But I have two brands that I usually wear: Paper Denim and Cloth Co., and Seven Jeans for All Mankind. Those jeans are available at most fine department store retailers (Nordstroms, Bloomingdales, etc.). These jeans fall somewhere between $100 and $200 price range. However, you can check a “high-end” discount store such as Loehmans or Filene’s basement, who usually have other premium brands at a discounted price as well.
If this is out of you price range, don’t fret, Old Navy has great jeans for a very reasonable price. They have really diversified their styles with respect to different fits and washes. So for jeans in your price range, I’d definitely check out Old Navy. If you are able/or willing to spend a few more dollars, I’d check out Filene’s Basement or Loehmans.
Comments:
I have some useful style/shopping info to share with my Instructions Family. I went shopping today at Macy’s and happened to stumble upon a pair Levi’s jeans that caught my attention. I tried them on and absolutely loved them! They are a pair of Levi’s Low Boot Cut 527 jeans. Take a look at (or re-look) the Levi’s section next time you are at the mall. You might be pleasantly surprised!
